Our steel mill industry drum brakes are spring-applied, power-off safety brakes engineered to deliver continuous, reliable deceleration and fail-safe holding torque under the extreme heat, high-frequency duty cycles, and intensive dust conditions of metallurgical crane and ladle hoisting systems.
High-Temperature & Severe Duty Engineering
Thermal Shock Resistant Metallurgy: Cast from high-grade alloyed ductile iron (220 to 260 HBW) specifically stabilized to prevent structural cracking and geometric warping during rapid thermal spikes up to 450 degrees Celsius.
Heavy-Duty Sintered Friction Matrix: Equipped with premium iron- or copper-based sintered metallic linings that maintain a completely stable friction coefficient (0.38 to 0.45) under continuous high-heat operations, eliminating thermal fade.
High-Ambient Insulation Protection: Interfacing actuators and coils feature Class H or tropicalized Class H insulation (180 degrees Celsius thermal limits), preventing electrical burnouts near melting furnaces and pouring zones.
Enclosed Fatigue-Resistant Springs: Braking springs are fully encapsulated within a heavy-wall protective steel tube to prevent airborne slag, iron filings, and scale from damaging the spring mechanics.
